The Consortium for Ocean Leadership (COL) has selected forProject Technology to supply an integrated Earned Value Management System in support of the Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI), a key element of the The Ocean Research Interactive Observatory Networks (ORION) program.
forProject Technology will assist COL in the design, implementation, deployment and operation of an EVMS based on Microsoft Project and the forProject tools. We will be providing EVMS training to JOI managers and staff and will help integrate the EVMS with JOI financial and other management systems.
The OOI will establish a network of global, regional and coastal facilities, all linked with a global cyberinfrastructure. The global component of the OOI design includes a network of 10-20 moored buoys linked to shore via satellite. These buoys will support sensors for measurement of air-sea fluxes of heat, moisture and momentum; physical, biological and chemical properties throughout the water column, and geophysical observations made on the sea-floor. The focus of regional scaled ocean observatories is to provide long term and adaptive access to measurements of geological and oceanographic phenomena on regional scales. The coastal OOI will enhance and expand upon existing coastal observing assets, providing unique and extended research approaches to many complex problems in the coastal environment. The Cyberinfrastructure component of the OOI provides the common operating infrastructure connecting and coordinating the operations of the three OOI observatories with the scientific and educational pursuits of the oceanographic research communities. The goal is to facilitate direct and immediate interaction with the ocean.
About COL: The Consortium for Ocean Leadership is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization that represents 94 of the leading public and private ocean research and education institutions, aquaria and industry with the mission to advance research, education and sound ocean policy.
